The Wrecking Ball star was wearing a skimpy top made from a scarf, which was intended to showcase her toned waist and arms.
However, the design gave way to a wardrobe malfunction, revealing she wasn't wearing a bra.
Her outfit left little to the imagination, although the Party In The USA singer is no stranger to flashing the flesh.
The star also appeared to have added fake tan to her torso but left her hands untanned, leaving them looking like gloves.
She teamed her outfit with black trousers as she left her tattoos on show.
The star - who split from husband Liam Hemsworth last summer, had vamped up her make up with a smokey eye.
She added soft peach lips and a blusher with highlighter on her cheekbones.
Her honey toned hair was styled extra-strajght with very defined bangs.
She was quick to laugh it off on Instagram, joking on the image that it will "be removed from Instagram soon".
Earlier Miley had walked the catwalk for Marc Jacobs, for which she had worn a bra.
She's in NYC after nearly coming face to face with her ex husband, Hemsworth, at a pre-Oscars party in Beverly Hills last Friday, which was also attended by Miley's parents.
The pair's near run-in comes after a judge granted their divorce in January.
