You get this if you were successful in following the button commands. She's an undergrad in the journalism program at college. May asks why she holds her breath.

Continued Journey With Vanessa

Vanessa ponders if we're all killers waiting for our switches to get flipped.

• "We might be."
• "Not at all."

They turn on the radio. A news report says Vanessa is assumed to be armed and dangerous. (Um... Did I miss the part where she grabbed a gun?!)

• "It's all lies."
• "We made the news."
• "Sorry you're involved."
• "Did he say 'awkward'?"

Reached Roadblock Together

At the roadblock, a highway officer asks where they're coming from.

• "Arizona."
• "Salt Lake City."
• "San Francisco."

I answered San Francisco.

He asks for a license and registration.

• "Sorry, I lost them."
• "They're in the mail."
• Check glove box

I checked the glove box. Vanessa says they need to leave.

• Peel out
• Wait for him

I chose to wait.

Reached Checkpoint Together, Not Pursued

You leave without the cops chasing you. You get this by choosing the correct dialogue options.

Spoke About Future With Vince

Vince asks what's going on at school

• "Sure..."
• "I might drop out."

Another Nightmare...

Zoe looks for her pill bottle.

• Search bedside table
• Search drawer

It's not in either place. She has to keep looking.

• Search cupboard
• Turn off faucet
• Search storage rack
• Search apron
• Turn on light

You don't find pills no matter where you look. Zoe sees someone outside.

• Stay inside
• Check the hallway

Arrived At Jim's Apartment

Jim is being accused of breaking into his own apartment. Zoe helps him out. Jim saw someone lurking in the shadows.

• "What did he look like?"
• "What else did he take?"
• "Did he hurt you?"

The manager wants someone to pay for the door.

• "We'll pay."
• "Insurance can pay?"
• "Just let him be!"

Selecting leave him be defends Jim. The other two answers placates the manager. Jim asks how she's been sleeping.

• "Having nightmares."
• "Good if I take meds."
• "Like a baby."

Zoe decides she should look around for Jim's stuff.

If you found Jim's medication, he doesn't want to take it.

Jim asks if Zoe can imagine forgetting things.

• "Sounds terrible."
• "For me, a relief."

Jim sympathizes with Zoe.

• "It has."
• "Don't go there."

Zoe chases after the mysterious figure. Follow the QTEs. Even if you fail, you still add to the Story Tree.

Jay: Highway 83 – 14 Years Earlier

Entered The National Park

Jay and Vanessa make it to the Glacier National Park. Follow the QTE to help Vanessa over the fallen tree trunk, then help her cross the stream. Next, she asks Jay how he does it.

• "Can't stop now."
• "Experience."
• "Comes naturally."

Jay notices Vanessa's bleeding on her leg. Follow the QTE to clean it up.

Tracked By Cops

Mr. Dorland, Vanessa's father, shows up. (Um... WTF?!) He knows about everything the Holts did.

• Stay out of it (after a second)
• "You're wrong about me!"
• "Who else is with you?!"

Follow the QTEs to run away.

Jay Pursued By Cops

Follow the QTEs up the mountain.

Vanessa wants to jump before she changes her mind.

Vanessa says her goodbyes to her dad and they jump. You should unlock:

  • If you jumped without her, she went to juvenile hall, but now works with lawyers.

  • He's had a few close calls but doesn't go far anymore.
• "How did you survive the jump?"
  • Jay blacked out. Vanessa pulled him to shore.
• No more small talk (after any two questions)

Jay asks what's going on with her.

• "I've been struggling..."
• "I'm doing fine."

Jay says they're a lot alike.

• "Maybe we are."
• "We're nothing alike."

He asks if Zoe hates him.

I selected don't hate. He asks why she's so forgiving.

You get this if they both survived and also reconciled.

Tyler's Fate

This covers what happened with Tyler.

Tyler Became Fugitive

You get this if Jay helped Tyler during the Chased By Tyler Into Woods checkpoint in Chapter 4: Shimá.

Sharon's Fate

This covers what happened with Sharon.

Sharon Escaped Country With Paul

You get this if Paul escaped with Sharon during the Dante Came Calling checkpoint in Chapter 5: Paradise Found. For completing chapter 6, you should unlock:

Fail enough QTEs that gets Jay caught. Failing twice at Mr. Dorland works. Vanessa thought she and Jay got away.

Zoe visits Jay in prison. He remembers her as a little kid scared of the dark.

Zoe has questions for Jay.

• "Heard from Vanessa?"
  • Vanessa wrote for awhile and lives in Phoenix now. She's married with kids.

  • He gets the meal. Spaghetti and Meatballs.
• "Talk to your mom?"
  • She talks to him when she can, but he doesn't know where she is.

Zoe had to see Jay. He asks if she's okay.

• "None of your business."
• "I'm doing great."

He says they're the same.

• "Maybe we are."
• "We're nothing alike."

He says he's out of appeals but could be granted clemency since he never killed anybody (this is how you know you're on the pacifist path). He says she must hate him after everything his family did to her.

• "You looked out for me."

Sympathized With Jay

He asks why Zoe is so forgiving.

• "Because you've suffered."
• "Anger would ruin me."
• "You're a kind person."

Witnessed Jay's Execution

If you chose kind, he asks you to witness his execution.
